At
Seychelles Breweries we take great pride in everything we
do and especially in the role we are playing in promoting
responsible consumption of our beers and alcohol in general.
We believe
that alcohol should be consumed with moderation for abuse
of the substance can be harmful to the health of the user
and eventually a burden to the society.
For a while,
we have been working closely with the Drugs and Alcohol Council
(DAC) of Seychelles to study the effects of alcohol abuse
on the user and society.
DAC has
already started some projects:
- Heavy educational campaigns targeting schools
- Creation of CARE clubs in schools
- Creation of a rehabilitation centre for alcohol abusers/addicts.
Our marketing
strategy has moved from volume building to promoting moderate
drinking and our marketing activities are targeted at encouraging
a drinker to drink for example, a bottle everyday rather than
a dozen over the weekend.
Most of
our beer advertising materials now carry the slogan "Responsible
Drinking is Smart Thinking".
We strongly
discourage our employees and our consumers to drink excessively
and to drive after having consumed alcohol.
We have
also embarked on an alcohol educational programme for our
employees and each employee has received a brochure, which
covers issues like Alcohol and the Workplace, Drinking and
Driving, Problem Drinking and the true or false of alcohol.
The implementation
of our newly launched sensible consumption of alcohol campaign
nation-wide continues...
